How To Listen To Music Performed At Church

How can we teach our children to listen to music performed at church? I answered this question in Children’s Worship as we listened to a special instrumental Easter musical performance.

1. Be amazed at the skill it takes to perform.

God has gifted individuals with exceptional musical talent. It takes hard work to practice and perform with excellence. Think of the discipline and dedication it takes and thank God for those who use their talents for his glory.

2. Be inspired to practice.

Think of the different ways you can use your musical abilities to serve God. It does not always have to be on stage. Steward the gifts and talent God has given you.

3. Be thankful for Jesus who is worthy of all praise.

Remember that music is a means to praise God. While music is beautiful art, it points to the true and beautiful Artist. Christians have a reason to sing and express joy. We are commanded to do so. Jesus is worthy alone.
