5 Lessons from the Night Shift
From 2008-2013, I worked the night shift as a Registered Nurse in the Telemetry Unit and the Intensive Care Unit. Here are some lessons I learned from working the night shift.
There is a special camaraderie amongst those who work the night shift.
Itβs a privilege to be on guard at night β to have others trust you with their lives or the lives of their loved ones while the rest of the world is sleeping.
Working the night shift will take a toll on you physically and mentally.
Even more importantly, working the night shift will take a toll on your spiritual life. It will be harder to go to church in the morning. It will be harder to make time to fellowship with your friends. You will have to make sacrifices if you want to be spiritually healthy.
There is a peace at night that comes when the world stops, but you know that God is still there, sovereign in the darkness.
