The Real Christian

How can a Christian best fix his eyes on Christ? In The Real Christian, Gordon J. Keddie presents a commentary on 2 Corinthians. At nearly 275 pages, this devotional commentary is rich with insight and written with pastoral warmth.

When examining 2 Corinthians 5:17, Keddie compares our new creation to the old creation – and that they both came from a Creator. Being a new creation is a work of God. And in 2 Corinthians 5:21, Keddie explains it as involving the mediation of the incarante Son of God, the substitutionary sacrifice of the sinless and sin-bearing Christ, and the imputation to the believer of the righteousness of Christ.

Perfect Strength in Weak Servants

Keddie addresses Paul’s thorn in 2 Corinthians 12:7-9 by saying it’s best understood as a chronic complaint of some kind that afflicted him all throughout his public ministry. Whatever it was, it made his life more complicated and less comfortable than what he wanted it to be. God gave him this thorn to teach him the sufficiency of God’s grace and to learn that God shows his strength in the weakness of his servants.

This commentary helps bridge Paul’s counsel to the modern Christian. It will strengthen your faith but also foster a deeper understanding of God’s enduring love and purpose. You will be better equipped to navigate life’s challenges with faith, hope, and a steadfast focus on our Savior.
