The Gospel of Jesus
What happens when you take in the Gospels as a whole? In The Gospel of Jesus, Loraine Boettner presents the four gospels in a complete narrative.
This book takes the Gospel accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and combines them into a single story. It also takes in brief sections of Acts 1 and 1 Corinthians 15. The book uses the Christian Standard Bible translation, making for a clear and easy read.
Fresh and Compelling
What I was most pleased to discover was how compelling the book was with all of the accounts together. The story moved quickly, and familiar sections felt fresh when seen in context with everything else.
The main readings do not have verse or chapter numbers, giving the book a “reader version” feel. The book does however include references in the side margins, making it easy for you to go back for further study.
The Complete Story
The book also divides into the several sections, particularly noting the rise of Christ’s popularity and his turn in dealing with opposition. Locations and dates of the events are also noted. All of this was rather helpful in sorting the story out, helping me get the full picture of what was going on. Additional helps include an index of OT references and an index of NT passages.
Bound in a beautiful blue hardcover, this book makes the perfect gift for a graduation or baptism. It is a helpful reference for study or sermon prep, and can also be used as a straightforward devotional read. Come see the complete story of Christ our Savior.
