The Law is a Light

This was the closing prayer poem from my sermon We Need a Savior: Three Ways the Law Shines a Light on Our Sin. February 16, 2025. First Chinese Baptist Church, Walnut, California.

The Law is a Light

The law is a light that will shine in the dark
Exposing the sin that hides deep in our hearts
It shows us our need for a savior, a friend
To lead us, forgive us, and free us from death

The law is a lamp that you hold in your hand
To help as a guide so you walk righteous paths
It pierces the night and will cause you to see
The road you are taking, the way to belief

The law is the love of the lord on display
That shows us his character — his holy ways
It’s fulfilled in Jesus our king and our lord
The lion, the lamb, and the light of the world
