A Call to Inconvenience

How the love of Christ calls and compels us to inconvenience.

I love to be productive. I don’t like waiting. I don’t like wasting time. But when I look at the life of Christ, I am reminded that my life is not all about me.

Predestined Inconvenience

Believers in Christ were chosen before the foundation of the world to be adopted. God the Father knew exactly what he was getting himself into. There would be difficulties. There would be apparent setbacks. But his purpose was steadfast and his love was strong.

Humbling Inconvenience

When Christ came as a baby, he left his throne in Heaven for an inconvenient life. He was going out of his way to love others. He was doing what he did not have to do. He knew the cross was coming, yet he endured it for the sake of the elect and the glory of salvation.

Embracing Inconvenience

We must look to Christ and his example of embracing inconvenience. We must set in our heart to be content in all circumstances. We will not complain. We go out of our way to love others. We humble ourselves so Christ can be exalted. This will play out in many ways, but it is for our good and God’s glory.
